Overview

My role

I was tasked with designing the UI/UX for an up-and-coming fashion and style app that focuses on delivering a visually stunning and user-friendly experience. My role involved collaborating closely with the product and development teams to create intuitive app screens that align with the brand’s vision.

Problem Space

The owner of PEL Dating reached out to me to redesign their app for iOS and Android. While the app had already launched on Google Play, the client sought to enhance it with new features to remain competitive in the evolving market.

Key features

Gamification: Integrate fun, interactive elements to boost user engagement and retention.
Streamlined Checkout System: Ensure a smooth, intuitive purchasing process for hassle-free transactions.
Ecommerce Shop: Build a fully functional online store that enhances the shopping experience.
Personalised User Profiles: Allow users to create custom profiles for tailored content, recommendations, and a more personalised shopping journey.

Process
Overview
Research

I conducted extensive research into the online food delivery market, with a particular focus on pizzas. I spent hours analysing the market, closely examining competitors and breaking down their designs from both a UI and UX perspective.

Initial
Ideation

I began by identifying the core user flows within the app, such as the sign-in/sign-up process, personalised wardrobe, swipe homepage, and checkout. I then sketched these flows to visualise how users would navigate through the app and what each interaction would require.

Design
Development

Low fidelity

In this phase, I transformed my initial sketches into digital wireframes, focusing primarily on the layout and UX design without adding colours or logos. This helped refine the structure and functionality of the app.

Mid fidelity

Next, I increased the detail in the wireframes, keeping the designs in greyscale to concentrate on the layout and the form of individual components. This stage allowed me to focus on usability and functionality before moving into aesthetics.

High-Fidelity Stage

After further refinement, I incorporated the colour palette, icons, imagery, and other visual elements to complete the high-fidelity designs. These final designs were then tested with users to gather feedback and make necessary revisions.

Final
Outcome

I then added in the colour palette, icons, information and imagery to make up the high fidelity designs which then were sent for more user testing. Below you can find the final outcome after all revisions had been made.

Working with Nick on our pizza delivery app for Panco Pizza has been a fantastic experience. Nick's expertise in design truly shines through in the final product. The app is visually appealing and user-friendly, making it easy for our customers to place orders effortlessly. Nick's attention to detail and ability to incorporate our feedback ensured that the app met all our needs and exceeded our expectations. We couldn't be happier with the results and highly recommend Nick for any UI design project."
